20.03.2018 | FiFab: Our Workforce are FiFab's Greatest Asset

At FiFab we understand that our workforce is our greatest asset. We, therefore, do everything we can to keep them safe and provide them with the best opportunities to develop.
From our intensive operator training schemes, our role in “DYW” (Developing the Young Workforce in Fife), to our long standing apprenticeship programme, we invest heavily in retaining our workforce and assisting them with their individual career progression.

Our on-going continuous improvement programme, which encourages our employees to propose ideas on possible ways to improve our efficiency and productivity.
The initiative concentrates on seven key areas of waste, which also help improve our sustainability, namely: overproduction; inventory; transport; process; idle time; operator motion and bad quality. Previous successes include going 'paperless' in Payroll and the redesign of product movement containers.

At FiFab we are also passionate about our future workforce. Our apprenticeship scheme and impressive work experience programme, helps us to ensure we always have a highly-skilled and consistent skill base.

20.08.2018 | FiFab: Foundation Apprentice Feedback

"Throughout my two weeks at FiFab I learned a lot about the how the company operates. I was able to build upon a range of my existing skills such as communication, problem solving and teamwork. I was also lucky enough to develop a range of new skills as part of the experiences I had. I was part of a project where I had to help figure out how to hold a component in a jig securely, to allow it to be welded. I spent a lot of time with inspection team where I was measuring components to ensure that they were within tolerance and accurate. I also spent time with engineers who showed me an insight into what they do as Engineers.

Overall I absolutely enjoyed my experience and I mostly enjoyed being part of a team, trying new things and the hands on learning. This has helped to build my understanding or the Engineering sector."

07.09.2018 |FiFab Investment: Tru Laser 5030 Fibre & Tru Punch 5000 Large Format Turret Punch

A great piece of news, we are pleased to announce our biggest ever investment in over 46 years in business. This takes investment in the site to over £2.6 million in the last 5 years.

The laser (Tru Laser 5030 Fibre) and the punch machine (Tru Punch 5000) masters every task with reliability and productivity and will be fully integrated into an automated material handling system and is estimated to be up and running in our facility, by the end of January 2019.

It is often highlighted that the UK lags the rest of the world in terms of investment and automation. This further investment by the management team here at FiFab reinforces our beliefs in the manufacturing sector ability within the UK to be best in class.

We will keep you updated with regular news on the project.
