At FiFab, we are committed to making the difference and our people behind the scenes is what allows us to live that value. We want to introduce you to key people in the team who have worked with FiFab to deliver the reputation for quality, flexibility, and customer service.
In this edition we speak with Sales Manager, Colin Paterson.
What is your role and what does it involve?
I work as a Sales Manager for Fife Fabrications, it’s a role which has multiple responsibilities which means that every day is different. The main duties include dealing with new and existing customers, providing quotations for new and existing business and ensuring that we are hitting our commercial targets, attending trade shows, visiting customers and training the newer members of the team.
How did you learn about FiFab and why did you want to work for the company?
I joined FiFab straight from school as an apprentice 21 years ago. I was a pupil at Lochgelly High School when FiFab came to visit to recruit for apprentice opportunities they had with the business back in 2002. I started on a four-year fabrication apprenticeship and then I progressed to doing offline programming for some of our pieces of machinery such as the Punch, so I got some good experience in multiple departments initially. After a few years, John then approached me about joining the sales team.
What is the best thing about working for FiFab?
I’ve worked here for a long time, and I have to say that it is the culture. I really enjoy working with the whole team and senior leadership are really keen to support people who want to progress in the company.
What is next for Fifab?
As part of the sales team, it is important that I keep on top of growing industries and opportunities within the UK. We’ve noticed significant growth in the UK Space and Rail industries so we are looking to spend some time growing our presence in that sector.
What is next for your career with Fifab?
I’ve been very fortunate that Fifab have funded a Level 8 Management Leadership qualification through CMI and Fife College, I’m looking to complete this as part of my wider career plans to progress to the next level in the company. The Senior team at Fifab is really supportive of this which is great.
